Legal
The short version of how we protect your information and what you agree to when you use this site. No fine print tricks — that's the point.
Privacy Policy
What We Collect
- If you write a letter: just the letter. We don't ask for your name, and we don't track who wrote what.
- If you sign up to receive letters: a way to reach you (email or phone), your role as a first responder, and how often you'd like to hear from us.
- If you contact us: whatever you choose to include in your message.
How We Use It
One purpose only: delivering encouragement. We use your contact information to send the letters you asked for, and nothing else. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your information with advertisers, employers, departments, or anyone who isn't essential to delivering the service (such as our email and text delivery providers, who may process it only on our behalf).
What We Never Do
- Tell a department, supervisor, or coworker that you signed up.
- Publish a letter or story without permission.
- Keep your information after you ask us to delete it.
Your Choices
You can unsubscribe at any time from any message, and you can ask us to delete everything we have about you by reaching out through the contact page. We'll do it, no questions asked.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and we delete it if we learn we have.
Terms of Use
What This Service Is
Stay For One More Day connects anonymous letters of encouragement with first responders who choose to receive them. It is a peer-encouragement project — not a medical, counseling, or crisis service, and nothing on this site is professional advice. Using the site means you accept these terms.
If You Write Letters
- Write only what you'd want a struggling stranger to receive: encouragement, gratitude, hope.
- Don't include harassment, graphic content, proselytizing pressure, sales pitches, or personal contact details.
- Every letter is reviewed by a real person, and we may decline or edit a letter for safety without notice. Submitting a letter gives us permission to deliver it and, with identifying details removed, to share it as an example of the project's work.
If You Receive Letters
Letters come from strangers with good intentions, reviewed by our team, but we can't guarantee any particular letter will be right for you. If one misses the mark, tell us and we'll make it right.
The Usual Legal Things
The site and its content belong to the Stay For One More Day Project. Links to other organizations are provided in good faith, but we don't control them and aren't responsible for what they do. The service is provided as-is, without warranties, and to the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for damages arising from its use. We may update these terms; the date above always tells you the current version.
Consent to Receive Messages
What You're Agreeing To
By signing up to receive encouragement, you consent to receive messages from the Stay For One More Day Project at the email address or phone number you provide, at the frequency you chose: a single letter, or one letter a week for four weeks. That's the whole program — we don't add you to anything else.
Text Messages
- Message and data rates may apply, depending on your carrier and plan.
- Reply STOP to any message to stop all future messages immediately.
- Reply HELP for help, or reach us through the contact page.
- Consent is not a condition of any purchase — nothing here is for sale.
Withdrawing Consent
You can withdraw consent at any time: reply STOP to a text, use the unsubscribe link in any email, or contact us directly. Once you do, messages stop, and you're welcome back whenever you want.
Crisis Disclaimer
Stay For One More Day is not a crisis line. Letters, forms, and messages on this site are not monitored in real time, and nothing here replaces professional care. Please don't use our forms to report an emergency or ask for urgent help — we may not see it in time.
If you or someone else is in danger right now, call 911. If you're in emotional crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988, or chat online at 988lifeline.org. Free, confidential, 24/7 — and staffed by people who want you here.
